It arose in the 70s in California. It is said that Shawn Stussy was the one who started by scratching his surname on his handmade surfboards. Then he started using his signature as a logo on T-shirts, shorts and hats that he sold outside of his car around Laguna Beach. For many this was the beginning of self-expression in fashion and the starting point of streetwear.
At the beginning of the 80s, the hip hop fashion industries began to merge with sportswear - which led to an increase in popularity of companies such as Adidas and Nike.
As we see, it is the story of how a small movement managed to mock the status of the fashion industry, make their clothes a form of self-expression and reflection of what was lived in the streets ... and that, without doubt, marked a before and after in the way of dressing.
